Staff  |  Bead Review 2005  |  Bead Review 2  |  Bead Review 3 - COMING SOON!

The annual Bead Review series begins with many hours of dedication from our editor, art director and publisher.

Brad Pearson
Publisher

Brad has worked 15 years as a glass artist, five of them as a beadmaker. He was a presenter at the 2006 ISGB Gathering, and enjoys sharing his knowledge by teaching the art of beadmaking. He has recently ventured into publishing books of interest to the beadmaking community, and lives in Richmond, Virginia, with his wife Sherri and their two children, Avera and William.

Inara Knight
Editor

Inara's bead is featured on the cover of the ISGB's 2007 conference brochure, which celebrates the 15th Gathering. This marks a proud milestone in her 17+ years as a glass beadmaker. She lives in the Baltimore area with her husband, Mike, and three Weimaraners, Verrazano, Isabella, and Lil' Red.

Julie Ferguson
Art/Creative Director

Julie Ferguson, or "Fergie" as she is known in the bead community, lives in Mississippi and has been making beads for six years. She was a presenter at the 2006 Hot Times in the Mountains retreat in Asheville, North Carolina. This is the fourth book she has designed for The Art of Beadmaking. Her days are spent dividing time between her family, her graphic/web design business, and supporting her glass habit.

Deanna Griffin-Dove lives and works in Charlottesville, Virginia. Although she has spent a decade beadmaking and teaching flameworking skills, eagerly sharing her knowledge, she feels she's "jack of all techniques, master of few". Therefore, she consistently seeks to do/create those things that satisfy a hunger for good design, mature aesthetics and a deepening soul.

Terry Hale has always had a passion for making beautiful things and believes she has found her calling in flamework. She lives in Madison, Alabama, and works as a systems analyst to support her glass habit, with loving support from her husband, S.A. and son, Scott. She is a member of the ISGB and the Southern Flames.

Courtney Graham-Hipp is a graphic designer, writer and jewelry artisan who has been creating art glass beads for five years. Formerly the graphic designer of the ISGB's Bead Release newsletter, she is currently president of the Carolina FireFiends.

Margo Knight is a sometime dollmaker, seedbeader and fiber artist, and while she wishes it had been sooner, her real passion was discovered about 6 years ago – hot glass! She teaches beadmaking classes at her local arts center and delights in watching her students become as enthralled as she is, by the flame. "This is my real life; being a secretary pays the bills."

Marjorie Langston has been making beads since 1993 and teaching beadmaking since 1999. "I've seen lots and lots of beads, good and bad!" In "real" life, Marjorie works in middle management at a psychiatric hospital.

Ann Scherm Baldwin (infamous "Schermo" online) took her first workshop in 1999 with Kate Fowle, which helped establish her firm commitment to excellence in lampworking and beadmaking education. She teaches students from all over the world in her studio in Virginia Beach, and has helped to develop a comprehensive beadmaking curriculum and educational standards for the ISGB.

Lisa St. Martin is a passionate advocate for glass beadmaking, and teaches across America, Canada and Europe. Her work can be seen in many of the latest books and magazines. A founding member of the ISGB, she is their "Mistress of Fire" serving as the Gatherings Artist Liaison and Loss Prevention Specialist.

Steven Summerville - Twenty years of potting, a lifelong pursuit of beauty, passion and joy and a stubborn refusal to accept limitations have lead me thus far. I live on a 32 acre farm with my domestic partner and 42 animals consisting of llamas, goats and sheep in rural Virginia.
